This year, new chapters were organized and eventually recognized by the Silliman Alumni Association, Inc. in its second board meeting on August 25, 2008.
Southern Negros Alumni Chapter
The Southern Negros Chapter is composed of alumni from Kabankalan, Hinigaran, Sipalay, Himamaylan, Hinoba-an, and nearby towns. Through the efforts of Dr. Emil Sama and its elected chapter president, Anecito Villaluz Jr., city councilor of Kabankalan and the full support of the members, its founding was made possible. The officers inducted on May 26,, 2008 are the following: Anecito Villaluz Jr., president; Rene Maravilla, vice- president; Marilyn Alcala, secretary; and, Lucilyn Defante, treasurer. The members of the board of directors are: Jose Martin, Dr. David Gargantiel, Atty. Elsie Cordova, Dr. Emiliano Sama Jr., Rea Flor Abada, Abraham Castillon, Lucilyn Defante, Abigail Javier, Timothy Gargantiel, Emma Lyn Barlahan, Genalene Tormon, and Rodith Amantillo.
Antique Alumni Chapter
The Antique Alumni Chapter was organized on May 31, 2008 through the efforts of its elected chapter president, Rev. Rolando Bomban Jr. with the strong support of Engr. Rufino Osunero and the Valente brothers, Ferdinand Perry and Nickarter Clyde with wife Esther Selah Jimiera-Valente. The SAAI president and the executive secretary were present during the organizational meeting at the residence of Engr. and Mrs. Rufino Osunero. T he elected officers are: Rev. Rolando Bomban Jr., president; Ferdinand Perry Valente and Genaro Cabrera, vice president of the northern and southern chapters, respectively; Esther Selah Jimiera-Valente, secretary; Elaine S. Alobog-Quibete, treasurer; and, Nickarter Clyde Valente, PRO of the northern chapter and Rev. Charlie Calixtro for the southern chapter. The board of directors are: Atty. Eduardo Fortaleza, Engr. Rufino Osunero, Judge Perpetuo Lotilla, Romulo de la Cruz, Macario Grasparil, Ethelda Valente, Martha Osunero, Lorraine Solis-Abraham, Rossmruja Solis Varona, Pastor Aime Ambos, Angeles Solis, Dr. Jocelyn Tagalogon-Trivilegio, Fernando Corvera, Relpha Masa-Java, Rev. Winston Mariano, Amelia Chavoso, and Delfin Peñaflorida.
Misamis Occidental Silliman Alumni Association

Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental -- With almost 50 Sillimanians in attendance, the Misamis Occidental Silliman alumni met at the Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP) in Sinacaban town. The order of the day was to create or organize a province-wide alumni association. It was convened by 1st District Board Member Atty. Inocencio Pagalaran Jr. (AB '74, LlB '78) and Provincial Tourism Officer Karl Imanoel Aoanan (AB Hist '04).
Fiscal Jose Velono Sr. (AB '49, LlB '52), the oldest at 90, wasted no time in proposing to create the province-wide alumni association and the dissolution of the existing Ozamiz and Oroquieta Chapters. The officers and members of the existing recognized alumni chapters, Ozamiz and Oroquieta, were present and were in full support of the proposition to create a bigger chapter covering the whole province of Misamis Occidental.
The officers of the newly created Misamis Occidental Silliman Alumni Association (MOSAA) are: Atty. Inocencio Pagalaran Jr., president; Rebecca Tan-Villanuea, vice-president; April Lourdes Ocampos-Aoanan, secretary; Lina K. Pacio, treasurer.. The five directors are: Dr. Beatriz Medina, Rev. Lowell Tac-an, Karl Imanoel Aoanan, Mayor Estela Obut, and Mindette Love Gran-Macud. The MOSAA will cover the whole province of Misamis Occidental comprising 14 municipalities, namely: Concepcion, Sapang Dalaga, Baliangao, Calamba, Lopez Jaena, Aloran, Panaon, Jimenez, Sinacaban, Tudela, Clarin, Bonifacio, and Don Victoriano; and the three component cities of Oroquieta, Ozamiz, and Tangub.
Many of the Sillimanians in attendance admitted that it was the largest, in terms of number, gathering of Sillimanians in the province in recent history.
SU Alumni and Friends in Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia -- The first Tipon in Riyadh was held at the Philippine Embassy Chancery last April 4, 2008. Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor, alumni representative in the Board of Trustees, inspired the three alumni, Robert Maghanoy (BBA ’87), Perlito Amarante (BMC), and Richard Sinamban, (BSSW) to organize the SU Alumni and Friends in Saudi Arabia.
Association of Central Texas Sillimanians (ACTS)
The Association of Central Texas Sillimanians (ACTS) was formally organized on September 3, 2007 at Kerville City, Texas through the efforts of the Rev. Dr. Frank Somera Jr. (HS ’55; M.Div. ’67) and Nelly Acuna-Somera (AB’61; LLB ’65). It is their love and their show of the Silliman Spirit that will forever be engraved in the chapter’s acronym- ACTS. The following are the officers: Sam Tomale, president; Celan Alo, vice-president; Nelly Acuna-Somera, secretary; Adelaida Eusebio-Escalante, treasurer; Haydee Velez-Pioquinto, auditor; and, Bayani Pioquinto, PRO. The members of the board of directors are: Rev. Dr. Frank Somera Jr., Dr. Dante Escalante, and Hazel Taglucop-Quisumbing.
